2012 FRC - Rebound Rumble
Kickoff is finally here! This year's game is called "Rebound Rumble," which challenges robots to shoot 8-inch diameter balls into basketball hoops. Robots can shoot into an eight-foot high hoop for 3 points or drop balls into a 5 foot and 2 foot hoop for 2 points and 1 point respectively.
This year's end-game consists of a challenge borrowed from last year's FTC game. There are three bridges placed in the middle of the field, each of which acts like a big see-saw. Robots are challenged to drive onto the bridge and balance perfectly on it in the last few seconds of the game.
For more information on this year's game see the Resources section.
2011 Bash at the Beach - Champions!
For the second year in a row, Team 195 has won the annual "Bash at the Beach" competition in Old Lyme, Ct. Our robot went undefeated for the entire day, earning us both the "Play of the Day" and "Top Qualifier" awards. Of course, we couldn't have won the competition without our fantastic alliance partners, Apple Pi (team 2067) and Team Paragon (team 571)!
2011 FIRST Championship
Team 195 seeded 11th out of 88 robots in the Galileo division, but were knocked out in the division Quarter Finals. Nevertheless, we had a strong showing and were definitely a powerful contender.
On the whole, we had a fantastic time in St. Louis! Hopefully we'll be able to return to try again next year.
2011 Northeast Utilities CT Regional - Regional Champions!
Team 195, alongside the Techno-Nuts (Team 155) and the MidKnight Inventors (Team 1923), earned first place at the 2011 Northeast Utilities CT Regional! We were also awarded the Quality Award!
After successful practice matches on thursday, we went on to lose only one qualification match and ended up seeding third, behind the MidKnight Inventors and Bobcat Robotics (Team 177). An autonomous that did not fail a single time on Friday or Saturday and a two-second deployment and minibot contributed greatly to our increased success compared to WPI. During eliminations, our alliance once posted a score of 123 points and several times scored at least 90 points. For the entire semifinals and finals parts of our drivetrain began to fail, making the robot drive significantly slower than normal, but despite this we personally managed to put up at least one logo in every match, our alliance generally completing two to three logos.
Official match videos will be posted online eventually. In the meantime, anyone with pictures or videos from the event should contact the webmasters so that they can be posted here on the site.
2011 WPI Regional - Regional Champions!
Team 195, alongside the iBots (Team 2370) and our alliance captain Checkmate (Trinity Robotics - Team 40), earned first place at the 2011 WPI Regional! After failing to complete a single match on thursday due to communication and other issues, and despite issues with broken grippers late Friday and early Saturday, a very strong showing on most of Friday and during the elimination rounds on Saturday allowed us and our alliance partners to bring home the first place trophy.
